Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Accounting

Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Accounting (BS BADM ACCT) program offers coursework that prepares students for a variety of careers, including those in public or corporate accounting. Our courses are designed to expand students’ technical and analytical skillset, and to help students pursue a certification of choice, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Public accounting positions generally require the CPA credential. Candidates are eligible to sit for the CPA exam upon completion of our BS BADM ACCT program. Students interested in public accounting careers typically specialize in external auditing, assurance, or tax services, but also financial accounting, forensic accounting, business valuation, and others.

Corporate accounting positions place less emphasis on the CPA, although many candidates for higher-level positions have a CPA credential. The CMA is a valuable credential for candidates for corporate and management accounting positions, which include financial management, financial reporting, cost accounting, budget analysis, and others. Students interested in internal auditing or risk management careers may pursue a CIA or CFE credential.

Students interested in graduate studies may pursue our 30-credit-hour Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting and Analytics program.
