*Note: Because this is an interdisciplinary major, the two-course rule is not in affect for these areas of Gen Ed.

  ^Students completing the required program for the BA in Individualized Studies must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language at or above the second semester college level. This requirement may be met by a satisfactory score on a recognized examination or by passing any foreign language course numbered 102 or any course with 102 as a prerequisite. 

To be admitted into the program as a major, the student must submit a program application and plan of study to the Director of the Individualized Studies Program. Consult the program director and program web site for more details on admissions requirements. A student must have successfully completed 30 credits hours and have a GPA of 2.75 or better before formal admission can take place. Students with a 2.5 or fewer than 30 credits may be admitted at the discretion of the Program Director.

The student must attain a cumulative grade-point average of 2.00 or better in courses taken at Winthrop and included in the 36 semester hours of the required program. In addition to the 36 semester hours of the required program, the student must select and complete a minor, attaining no less than a 2.0 GPA in the minor. Within the 120 semester hours required for this degree, the student must also include a minimum of 40 semester hours in courses numbered above 299.
