All courses required within the major (PETE, EDCO, HLTH, etc.) must be completed with a C or better.

Students must provide evidence of current Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification from an approved agency.

After 30 hours, all teacher candidates must meet the following requirements:

A "C" or better in EDCO 101.
Take the PRAXIS Core examination. A passing score will not be required until the teacher candidate applies for formal admission into the College of Education.
Achieve and Maintain the healthy zones in aerobic capacity (PACER), muscular endurance (planks), and flexibility (sit & reach), as measured by Fitnessgram, and muscular strength (push-ups), as measured by the American College of Sports Medicine.+
Demonstrate competency in all fundamental motor skills, as well as skillful performance in a minimum of four physical education content areas (e.g., games and sports, aquatics, dance and rhythmic activities, fitness activities, outdoor pursuits, individual-performance activities, per SHAPEAmerica 2017 Initial PETE Standards) as measured by Departmental rubrics.+
Complete an application for Continuation in the Teacher Certification program.

Before enrolling in EDCO 402 and PETE 490, teacher candidates must:

Achieve a C or better in PETE 566 and 591
Pass Praxis II: Physical Education Content and Design (0095/5095).

In addition to the above requirements, all requirements must be met for initial admission to the Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences.
